REVISED NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Egg Harbor Independence Day Weekend Festivities Include the UW-Madison Marching Band and a Wide Range of Live Music
Vonnie Callsen, co-owner of Main Street Market, announced that the UW-Madison Marching Band will be part of the Fourth of July Parade in Egg Harbor. “The band members will ride on a flatbed. After the parade, they're going to play a ‘5th quarter’ either on the patio at Main Street Market (on the Hwy 42 side of store) or somewhere in Harborview Park with all the concessions.” Jim and Nancy Forbes are responsible for this special appearance. The parade begins promptly at 1:30pm on Sunday, July 4.
Two “First Annual” events will take place following the parade. First, is a bed race with lodging establishments competing with their own custom-made beds. The other is a fundraising benefit for the Egg Harbor Historical Society - the First Annual Hotdog Eating Contest - sponsored by Watcha Have and Triangle Distributing, which will take place after the parade in Harborview Park.
Egg Harbor fireworks start at dusk on Saturday, July 3. Food and refreshments will be available in Harborview Park at 7809 State Hwy. 42 starting at 2pm and the Mango Brothers perform starting at 5pm. Live musical performances at venues in and near Egg Harbor include Big Mouth & the Power Tool Horns, Rick & Mick, Nathan Xander and Witchouse, and Glen Navis. All performances are free to the public. The weekend wraps up on July 4 at the Peg Egan PAC at 6pm for the best of Blues, Folk, Pop, Swing, Americana and World Music featuring Chris Kasper, Joe and Vicki Price, Sara Thomsen, and the Jennie DeVoe Band.
For further details and a complete schedule of events, call the Egg Harbor Visitor Center at 920-868-3717 or visit www.EggHarborDoorCounty.org.
Thank you,
Lynn

Roots-Rocker John Hiatt Takes Auditorium Stage - In Fish Creek!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 24, 2010
Door Community Auditorium
3926 Hwy. 42 • PO Box 397
Fish Creek, WI 54212-0397
(920) 868-2728
Roots-Rocker John Hiatt Takes Auditorium Stage
The Door Community Auditorium will come alive on Monday, July 5, when legendary songwriter John Hiatt takes the stage with his all-star band The Combo. In more than three decades on the music scene, Hiatt has won a devoted following with his own vibrant brand of roots-rock. Hiatt's passionate, gravelly voice is an ideal vehicle for his finely rendered songs, which have been made famous by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, and Linda Ronstadt.
Equal parts bluesman and wordsmith, John Hiatt has cultivated a reputation over the years as a songwriter's songwriter, able to blend a poet's attention to detail with a rocker's knack for catchy melodies and unforgettable hooks. His hit song "Thing Called Love" (as performed by Bonnie Raitt) rose almost to the top of the U.S. charts in 1987, and he has received eleven Grammy nominations since then. In 2008, Hiatt received the AMA Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting, and earlier this year he released his eighteenth studio album, The Open Road.
Hiatt’s band, The Combo, features Doug Lancio on guitar, Kenneth Blevins on drums, and Patrick O'Hearn on bass. “They are the best band I've ever had,” Hiatt told an interviewer about The Combo. “When it comes down to it, the sum is greater than the parts, and when we get together onstage, we ‘make the magic happen.’”
Auditorium board president Kaaren Northrop reflected the growing excitement about Hiatt's performance when she said, "My friend Bruce Hill, who owns the Lull-Abi Motel in Egg Harbor, was so excited when he found out John Hiatt was coming that he hired someone to run the office so he could come to the show! He also gave me six John Hiatt CDs; I've listened to them all and can't wait to hear him in person."
Tickets for Monday night's show (which begins at 8:00 p.m.) range from $38 to $55 and can be purchased in person at the Door Community Auditorium on Highway 42 in Fish Creek, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org. Hiatt's performance is sponsored by Thomas and Barbara Thurman and Dan and Diane Cross of Idea Studio.

Copper Kettle Confections Gets New Name: Door County Candy
Copper Kettle Confections in downtown Sturgeon Bay has a new name now: Door County Candy. In addition, Terry, the owner, moved the shop next door to a much bigger space, and far more accommodating. We met with Terry again today to check up on the new location and took a quick tour - they were still setting stuff up, but the shop is open for business.
There will be several booths too for eating ice cream and other goodies. The shop looked very charming and delightful. So look for Terry's new shop and new location (next door to his old shop) and tell him that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you!
