Fall in Door County

The calendar is turning it’s page to SEPTEMBER, 2016!  All I can say, is WOW -  How DID this happen?  How does summer go into hiding so quickly?  It isn’t quite so painful letting go of our warm and sunny months knowing that we have a carrot (Art Event) dangling in front of our noses for the near future.  Mark your calendars for September 30th - October 2nd for an Absolutely Awesome Autumn Art Experience in Door County, Wisconsin.

We would like to invite you and your friends to kick off the weekend by stopping by the store on Friday September 30 (9 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.), by attending our Round Robin scheduled for Friday afternoon, enjoy the splendid demo’s (utilizing stencils, die cuts and embossing folders), take part in the make and take table, a friendly buffet supper – time to chat and network, and then to hang out until after the mixed media class is completed to share a glass of wine and welcome our dear friends, Pat and Paul Niemuth from Northwood’s Rubber Stamps.  You still have time to get your reservations in for this weekend.

Attached are some frequently asked questions re: The Round Robin.
Inquiring Minds want to know…….

Q:  What is a Round Robin?
A:  A Round Robin is a series of mini-classes, most often offered in a group of 4-6 classes.

Q:  What will be offered in your Round Robin?
A:  Our Round Robin being held on Friday, September 30th  at 1:00 p.m. will include five  mini-classes/projects taught by five instructors.   After the third class, we will break for a sweet treat (energy boost) before finishing the last two classes.  It’s always a mix of classes, fresh ideas and FUN!

Q: Do you have a theme for your Round Robin?
A: Our theme is “Extreme Surfaces/Utilizing the Appropriate Ink”.  We will introduce you to five different surfaces to stamp and add coloration to in our projects offered.  We will be stamping on wood veneer, sand paper, cork, tile and a beautiful coated paper.

Q:  What does the $45.00 include?
A:  The $45.00 fee includes the round robin of 5 classes (includes ALL Supplies) and the dessert bar.  It also includes the make & takes and the demonstrations following the Round Robin + the Supper Buffet, as well as the Wine & Cheese party following the Mixed Media Class scheduled for approximately 9:00 p.m.

Q:  Is there still time to sign up?
A:  YES.  Chairs are continuing to fill – but there are a few spaces left for you and your friends!

Meet the Artist - JEAN ARNESON
Jean is the artist that has drawn all of Northwood’s exclusive designs for their rubber stamp company centered out of Stillwater, Minnesota.  Northwood’s and Jean have shared many creative years together – resulting in a wonderful and successful partnership.  As a result, the stamping world of over 22 years, has been a better place!  We are so thrilled to have been a part of this entire journey.  Oscar & Staff

Jean and I met in 1994 and I asked if she could draw images for rubber stamps.  She replied, “what are rubber stamps”?   Since that day she has designed over 10,000 images for us. She has an incredible amount of talent and has given all of the rubber stampers in our world, the ability to become rubber stamp artists. Jean, herself, is an awesome rubber stamper.  I appreciate her talent and her friendship over the past 22 years.  Pat Niemuth.

Jean will be joining us both Saturday and Sunday for two special signing times.  All rubber stamps purchased this weekend will be eligible to be signed by Jean.

Now, for a bio of Northwood’s artist – Jean Arneson.
Jean Arneson grew up in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and had an early interest in art at the age of 4. Inspired by both parents and art teachers, particularly mentor Hugh Mandelert, her art continued into adulthood.

Jean moved to the country in rural Cadott in 1980 when she met and married her husband John. They have been married for 36 years and live on his family farm, where they raised 3 children and are enjoying their grandson who keeps them hopping.

Many of the local nature scenes Jean comes in contact with day to day have found their way into Northwood’s Rubber Stamp designs. This is the 22nd year she has been designing rubber stamps for Northwood’s Rubber Stamp Company, starting in 1994. At that time, she met with Pat Niemuth and a great relationship began, creating many designs for the Northwood’s Company.

Besides designing stamps, Jean‘s passion is oil painting. She paints and sells original oil paintings as well as prints and note cards. Her artwork can be seen on display at the Cadott Citizens State Bank, the Chippewa Falls Public Library and the Heyde Center for the Arts. The Northwestern Bank in Chippewa Falls has a large collection of her paintings: Irvine Park Revisited. She also does other illustrating with pen & ink and some charcoal. Jean has designed and painted the historic Wagner Street wall mural in Chippewa Falls, Wi and designs the scenic displays for the Chippewa Falls Christmas Village in Irvine Park since 1987. In 2014 she started the Yellowstone Art Trail, a free self guided art tour including local artists, plus historical places of interest and specialty shops, which winds its way along the historic Yellowstone Trail in the Cadott, Boyd and eastern Lake Wissota area of Wisconsin. The Art Trail takes place the second Friday & Saturday in September.  She also is a committee member of the Valley Art Association, the Hugh Mandelert Art Society and the annual Spring Art Show at the Chippewa Valley Cultural Association-Heyde Center for the Arts, area art organizations in the community.
Jean continues to paint and draw new creations at her home
in rural Cadott.

Trio Restaurant in Egg Harbor Not Reopening

Trio Restaurant Closed Permanently

Ron and Jerry, the owners of Trio Restaurant in Egg Harbor Wisconsin told me today that they will not reopen the restaurant this year.

After 23 years, they have decided to retire.  We will miss this great restaurant in Egg Harbor - one of our favorites.

We wish Ron and Jerry all the best in their retirement - they ran a great restaurant all this time and were an asset to the Door County dining community.
