Door County Distillery Expanding; Bistro 42 to Close

Carlsville, WI - Door County Distillery is expanding to meet rising demand.  To make room for the expansion they are closing Bistro 42 restaurant on location at 5806 Hwy. 42 Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.  Bistro 42 will be permanently closed after 10 years in business.

The expansion will include a second still and barrel storage area with viewing windows, plus a full bar for sampling the spirits.  New products will be coming out in 2016 with the addition, including a Rye Whiskey and a Bourbon to complete a trio with the already produced Single Malt Whiskey.

The sampling bar will also serve as a craft-cocktail bar that will make specially made drinks using Door County Distillery's award-winning spirits.  The patio will be available to enjoy drinks outside during summer months.  Along with the vodkas, gin, brandy & whiskey; cocktails will feature the Distillery's two most recent products-Java Infusion (a coffee infused spirit) and Barrel Finished Gin.

Door County Distillery has been in operation for 5 years and the addition will allow them to triple capacity to keep up with the demand of the product.  Increased demand is attributed to the rise in popularity of local and craft spirits and the inclusion of Door County Distillery's products in Lambeau Field.  Construction is scheduled to start winter of 2016 to be completed by the summer.

Dear Friend(s),

Our thrilling 81st season opens June 14 with Chapatti, a late-in-life romance by Christian O'Reilly running through
July 3.  Unexpected sparks fly when Betty, the caregiver to an older woman and 19 cats, meets Dan and his dog Chapatti at their Dublin vet office.  This funny, gentle and poignant story centers around two lonely animal lovers who rediscover, very unexpectedly, the need for caring and companionship. What will happen when the troubled Dan, who named his dog Chapatti after the Indian flatbread, meets good-natured Betty, who collects cats to save them?

Artistic Director Greg Vinkler fell in love with this play last year when he included it in the 2015 winter play reading series The Play's the Thing. "I've never experienced a standing ovation just for a play reading," Vinkler said. "The audience at the play reading of Chapatti just loved and embraced it. It's a new work that did the same for audiences at its world première at Northlight Theatre. It's a special, special play."

Agatha Christie's The Hollow follows July 6 to July 24. This brilliant murder mystery is set in a classic English country house after WWII. "One of the things I love about Agatha Christie is that you just don't know what the heck is going to happen," Vinkler said. "What's also fun is that The Hollow is new to me - and to most people - and will be on the Players stage for the first time. The characters are terrifically interesting and colorful, and the play is invested with a surprising amount of humor. Everyone is decked out in beautiful clothes, everyone has secrets and everyone's guilty."
Once again, it is time for a big musical in the middle of the summer! The Full Monty takes the stage July 27 to August 14. This adult pop-rock musical is based on the Oscar-nominated film of the same name. The electrifying collaboration of writer Terrence McNally (the musical Ragtime and the play Master Class) and composer David Yazbek (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) earned the The Full Monty 10 Tony Award nominations, including best musical.

Here's the story: six unemployed, misfit and discouraged Buffalo steelworkers, after seeing how much their wives have enjoyed a touring company of the Chippendales, decide they can do a show like that too - they need the money - and not only that, they'll go "the full monty" and strip all the way. "The Full Monty has a lot of heart," Vinkler said. "It is about real people in a real situation who are forced to take charge of their lives and decide what is best for them; including an unemployed father searching for a way to provide for his son any way he can. It's the world we live in, so it has adult themes and language. There's also some nudity. But what a fun ride! Great songs, dancing, characters and some really touching moments. And it possibly has the most highly-anticipated closing number of any show!"
In Alabama Story, a children's book creates sparks in 1959 Montgomery, compelling a librarian to battle in a brand-new play by Kenneth Jones. This engaging Midwest première takes the stage August 17 to September 4. Inspired by true events, it centers on Emily Wheelock Reed, a fearless librarian who fights a campaign to purge a controversial children's book from the state library. "It is funny, touching, a play about character, almost a political thriller, very theatrical," Vinkler said. The book and film 'To Kill a Mockingbird' came to my mind as I was reading it. And it is a love letter to reading. A lovely, lovely play." Alabama Story was a 2014 finalist for the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference.
The 39 Steps, a fast-paced comedic spy thriller by Patrick Barlow, takes audiences on an exciting and hilarious adventure September 7 to October 16.
"The 39 Steps is just nuts!" Vinkler said. "It's imaginative, funny, romantic and smart - there are lots of allusions to other Alfred Hitchcock films. It's a roller- coaster ride of theatrical magic, quick changes and chutzpah."  Filled with dangerous femme fatales, dastardly villains and deadly assassins, The 39 Steps is an engaging mix of mystery and boisterous comedy featuring more than 150 characters performed by a ridiculously talented cast of 3 men and 1 woman. This Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning play magically recreates on stage
Hitchcock's film adaptation of John Buchan's original story - from the Flying Scotsman train ride to a plane crash - right before your very eyes.
We are certain that you will agree that the 2016 season is going to a highlight of the Door County summer and autumn. And we look forward to you being a part of it!  We hope to see you at the theater in 2016!

Give the gift of laughter, drama and music.
Everyone agrees, Gift Certificates make great gifts!

friends, co-workers or employees and enjoy a night of live theater like no other.
