The Harbor Fish Market & Grille in Baileys Harbor, one of our favorites at DoorCountyNavigator.com, has just announced Easter Brunch and opening for the season!

We so excited to open Harbor Fish Market & Grille for the season! Time for our Easter Buffet! This year Easter Sunday falls on March 27th and we will be open!  We actually open the doors for the season on Good Friday, March 25th.  Until May, every Friday we will be serving lunch from 11:30 am and dinner from 4:30 pm.  Every Saturday and Sunday we will be serving breakfast from 7:30 am, lunch from 11:30 am and dinner from 4:30 pm. Beginning the first of May we will be serving breakfast, lunch & dinner seven days a week. Don't forget to make your Easter Buffet reservations right away!  The spaces are filling up and we were booked for Thanksgiving and Christmas days!  You can make reservations on our Facebook page or on our website or by calling us at 920-839-9999. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  January 27th, 2016 Contact Beth Levendusky blevendusky@dcwine.com    920-743-7431 ext 111 Door County Distillery Expanding; Bistro 42 to Close Carlsville, WI - Door County Distillery is expanding to meet rising demand.  To make room for the expansion they are closing Bistro 42 restaurant on location at 5806 Hwy. 42 Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.  Bistro 42 will be permanently closed after 10 years in business.   The expansion will include a second still and barrel storage area with viewing windows, plus a full bar for sampling the spirits.  New products will be coming out in 2016 with the addition, including a Rye Whiskey and a Bourbon to complete a trio with the already produced Single Malt Whiskey.  The sampling bar will also serve as a craft-cocktail bar that will make specially made drinks using Door County Distillery's award-winning spirits.  The patio will be available to enjoy drinks outside during summer months.  Along with the vodkas, gin, brandy & whiskey; cocktails will feature the Distillery's two most recent products-Java Infusion (a coffee infused spirit) and Barrel Finished Gin.  Door County Distillery has been in operation for 5 years and the addition will allow them to triple capacity to keep up with the demand of the product.  Increased demand is attributed to the rise in popularity of local and craft spirits and the inclusion of Door County Distillery's products in Lambeau Field.  Construction is scheduled to start winter of 2016 to be completed by the summer.   ***  -30-  ***

Peninsula School of Art (PenArt) is proud to display artwork created by youths attending their 2015 Summer Studios for Young Artists workshops, as well as the School’s Family Art Days outreach program, in the upcoming Art of the Family exhibition, on view starting October 23 at The Link Children’s Art Gallery at Door Community Auditorium.

Artwork from PenArt’s summer youth workshops includes pieces created in the fine art media of painting & drawing, ceramics (hand building and on the potter’s wheel), animation, sculpture, and printmaking.

Contributions to Art of the Family from September’s Family Art Day follow the theme of “#ArtofTheFamily,” with family members working together to draw a “selfie” of their family enjoying a special memory from within a paper iPhone-shaped frame. In a world where the “selfie” self-portrait is seen consistently on Facebook and Instagram newsfeeds, PenArt stepped away from a focus on the individual to concentrate on what truly makes Door County unique – the families that support a strong arts-centered community.

After discussing their ideas, families drew a “#familie” that expressed what makes their bond unique. Those visiting the exhibition are encouraged to create and add their own #familie to the Link Gallery walls. By doing so, they join the featured artists of Art of the Family in a celebration of the beauty that is created when families collaborate their creativity and express their feelings through art, and then share it with the Door County community.

Since PenArt’s founding summer in 1965, the commitment to providing meaningful and fun curriculum for young artists remains strong. The summer youth arts program has grown from only two children’s workshops to today’s nearly 40 classes for children ages 3.5 to 17 years old, including those with family-centered activities.

The Link Gallery of Children’s Art is Door County’s first exhibit space dedicated to the showing of artwork that portrays the world through the eyes of children.  Exhibits can be viewed from noon-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and from noon to show time on show nights.  The Link Gallery of Children’s Art is located at 3926 Hwy 42 in Fish Creek, inside the Door Community Auditorium.

Ted Pollman Scholarship Awarded to Three Area Students

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  October 23th, 2015 Contact Beth Levendusky blevendusky@dcwine.com    920-743-7431 Ted Pollman Scholarship Awarded to Three Area Students Carlsville, WI - Recipients of the 2015 Ted Pollman Scholarship were announced this week. Casey Rosenthal who attends Bellin College, Mathew VanBramer who attends UW Madison, and Ethan Ray who attends UW Parkside were chosen out of many deserving candidates. All three will received $1500 towards schooling and are current employees of Pollman family businesses. The Ted Pollman Scholarship was created by the Pollman family, owners of Door Peninsula Winery and other Door County businesses, to honor the memory of their youngest son who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2000. Despite being diagnosed with severe learning disabilities at the age of five, Ted exceeded through hard work and persistence. The intent of the scholarship is to award graduating seniors or those currently pursuing higher education who have overcome financial, scholastic and/or physical challenges in their life. The scholarship is in its fourteenth year, beginning in Biloxi, Mississippi at Ted's alma mater, St. John's High School. During Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the high school was destroyed and the decision was made to move the scholarship to Door County due to Door Peninsula Winery's location.    Applicants are asked about their educational aspirations, community involvement, extracurricular involvement, and the challenges they have faced and overcome. Each application is read by the Pollman family and deserving students are chosen based on their answers. "It was difficult for us to make a decision," said Bob Pollman. "We received so many deserving applications this year that we couldn't decide on just one. We are pleased we are able to help these young people and keep the memory of our son going." There are 3 additional Ted Pollman Scholarships awarded each year to area graduating high school seniors going on to higher education. The Pollman family has owned Door Peninsula Winery since 1984 and also owns Door County Distillery and Bistro 42, attached to the winery; Juniper's Gin Joint, The Barrel Room and The Cherry Hut in Fish Creek; and Shipwrecked Brew Pub and Fat Louie's Olive Oil Company in Egg Harbor.
