Late Lunch/Early Bird Entrees Per Your Request!!    We have had so many requests to extend the hours on our Late Lunch/Early Bird Dinner features that we have decided to say "yes"!    Now you can enjoy your Early Bird Entree seven days a week from 2pm until 6pm!     At $15.95 each -- they are definitely worth stopping in for!  But save room for dessert -- in addition to our regular desserts like Door County Cherry Bread Pudding and Door County Cherry Pie (with Hyline Orchard cherries) -- Chef Kara continues to prepare all your favorites -- such as homemade cheesecakes, Creme Brulee and Key Lime Pie.  Each day brings a different assortment of homemade favorites!       Late Afternoon/Early Bird Dinner Entree Choices:    Whitefish       Fresh Hickey Brothers whitefish simply broiled with lemon herb butter Baby Back Ribs   Slow roasted full rack of ribs in our house BBQ sauce Chicken Piccata   Sauteed chicken breast with lemon, capers & white wine New York Strip  12oz Certified Angus beef strip served with sauteed mushrooms & onions Pork Chops   Twin 6oz. pork chops simply grilled and served with an apple chutney    (All above entrees served with our house baked potato, fresh garden vegetables and house made dinner rolls, with whipped butter.)      Just FYI, we are still serving from our regular menu -- seven days a week.   You can find our menu on our website or on our Facebook page -- or just call us and we'll fax a copy to you!  Our menu changes frequently to reflect our ability to buy the freshest and best items available and pass along all that flavor and value to you.        We are open and serving both breakfast and lunch entrees Monday through Friday from 11am and serve breakfast and lunch from 8am every Saturday and Sunday.  Our normal dinner service hours start at 4:30 pm daily.  Our late lunch/early bird entrees are available seven days a week from 2pm to 6pm.  We are still serving our unbelievable Traditional New England Lobster Boil every Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun from 4:30 pm.     As always, reservations are encouraged. Ted Pollman Scholarship Awarded to Three Area Students

Three students with strong ties to Door County - Spencer Gustafson, Barbara Haverli and Margaret Giblin - have been named the latest recipients of the Ted Pollman Scholarship, it was announced this week.

Now in its 13^th year, the Ted Pollman Scholarship was created by the Pollman family, owners of Door Peninsula Winery and other Door County businesses, to honor the memory of their youngest son who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2000. For Gustafson, in his first year as a student at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay, the honor of winning a Pollman scholarship is great.

“I know the history behind Ted and how important his name is,” Gustafson said. “I’ve been around the winery family for about 6 years and have grown real close to the Pollman family. So, it’s an honor to receive this.”

The intent of the scholarship is to award a graduating or recently-graduated senior who has overcome financial, scholastic and/or physical challenges in their life and has ambitions of furthering their education. This is true for Gustafson as he furthers his studies in criminal justice and law enforcement.

“I was wondering about how to pay for all of my books,” he said. “Now, I can use this to help with those costs.”

Haverli, currently a senior at Southern Door High School in Brussels, was surprised to win a Pollman Scholarship.

“In the beginning, I wasn’t planning on applying for any scholarships,” she said. “Now that I have been given a scholarship, I’m motivated to start applying for more of them.”

Haverli has spent her summers working at Shipwrecked Restaurant in Egg Harbor and is planning on enrolling in the accredited Ultrasound Technician Program at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay.

Giblin has begun her studies at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, majoring in athletic training. She has spent previous summers working at Cooper’s Corner in Fish Creek as a hostess and waitress.

“I wasn’t really expecting it,” Giblin said. “This is a really nice honor and just working so much at Cooper’s, it’s nice to actually be appreciated in such a way.”

Giblin, a recent Sevastopol High School graduate who will still be working at Cooper’s during her academic breaks, hopes to return to Door County after college to work as a trainer at one of the area high schools.

Applicants are asked about their educational aspirations, community involvement, extracurricular involvement, and the challenges they have faced and overcome. Each application is read by the Pollman family and a deserving student is chosen based on their answers.

The Pollman family has owned Door Peninsula Winery since 1984 and also owns Door County Distillery and Bistro 42, attached to the winery; Cooper’s Corner, The Barrel Room and The Cherry Hut in Fish Creek; and Shipwrecked Brew Pub and Fat Louie’s Olive Oil in Egg Harbor.
